St. Joseph Hospital has two unique volunteer opportunities available. St. Joseph Hospital and The Caregivers, Inc. are seeking individuals who would like to volunteer to provide one-on-one companionship to some of our most vulnerable of patients: older adults who are alone, poor of spirit and/or means, and chronically or acutely ill. Sharing Soulprints: Hospital to Home Visitation Program, is a program designed to serve as a safety net to help prevent patients from "falling through the cracks," by assisting them in becoming part of the St. Joseph Hospital family. A Soulprints volunteer might be called upon to do the following: hospital or home visitation, errands, or transportation to the grocery store or appointments.
The second volunteer opportunity is for those individuals who would like to provide one-on-one companionship for participants of the Edward V. Karg Day Away Program. The Edward V. Karg Day Away Program is a program designed to give those caring for loved one's suffering with Alzheimer's a welcomed break. The program, which is scheduled to run one day a week, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., offers music therapy, crafts, pet therapy, physical activity, lunch, games and other stimulating activities for the Alzheimer's participant. The Edward V. Karg Day Away Program is located at Milette Manor, 72 Vine Street, Nashua.
The success of Sharing Soulprints and the Edward Karg Day Away Program depends on the caring and compassion of volunteers. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer of either of these programs or would like more information, please call Kathie Rice Orshak at (603) 595.3144.
