Following the mission of serving and promoting the well-being of all, St. Joseph Hospital has coordinated efforts in the wake of the devastating earthquake in Haiti to send medical supplies and financial support to the recovery efforts currently occurring.
Over the past few weeks, two shipments of medical equipment have been gathered and shipped out as part of the collaboration between St. Joseph Hospital and the International Medical Equipment Collaborative (IMEC). IMEC, based in North Andover, Massachusetts, has presence in both Haiti and the Dominican Republic and is distributing medical supplies where they will be most beneficial to survivors of the earthquake.
Donated equipment included stretchers, walkers, wheelchairs, adult scales, exam tables and lights, a patient lift, supply carts, IV poles, step stools, tables and hospital beds. The supplies were taken to IMEC in North Andover, where the equipment will be cleaned and tested and, if needed, repaired by highly skilled technical volunteers. The items are packaged into complete medical suites, which includes basic equipment that is then shipped to hospitals in need.
In addition to donated medical equipment, the Mission Activities Committee at St. Joseph Hospital is planning a Help for Haiti Fundraiser Dance on Saturday, May 8, from 7 PM to 12 midnight in The Bounty Lounge at the Holiday Inn, in Nashua, NH. The money raised from the dance will benefit the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund.
Entertainment will be provided by The Casuals and The Risen, and there will be a cash bar and numerous raffles. The cost is $15 per person in advance, or $20 at the door.
