The sights, sounds and smells of a garden provide many people with a respite from their troubles and a feeling of serenity and peace, particularly during times of stress. In recognition of the life-affirming powers of a garden and the importance of providing a soothing environment for cancer patients and their loved ones, the Oncology Center at St. Joseph Hospital dedicated and blessed the Gerard L. Gagnon Oncology Healing Garden on June 14, 2008. In the fall of 2008 the Mary Caprio Meditation area was recognized within the Healing Garden.
