Your Registered Nurses (RNs) make every effort to respect your dignity and rights as a patient. Your comfort and relief from pain are an important concern. Nurses at St. Joseph Hospital are committed to involving you, your family and support persons in making decisions about your care to ensure it is personalized to your needs. Our RNs use evidence based practice to assure your care is the best it can be and many are recognized as experts in their field through certification in nursing organizations such as oncology, emergency, medical-surgical, geriatrics and cardiac care. St. Joseph Hospital nurses' have been designated as Magnet Nurses, by the American Credentialing Association for the care they provide.

While at St. Joseph Hospital, you may receive care from Nursing Assistants (LNA) and Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN's) both licensed by the State of New Hampshire and key members of your care team. Your interactions with LPNs and LNAs is in collaboration with and under delegation of the RN, to provide physical care, comfort or nutritional needs.

The St. Joseph Hospital nursing team is dedicated to providing you and your loved ones the care and comfort you need while in our care.

We want to make sure you get the very best healthcare and have access to the support services you need while you are in the hospital and after discharge. That is why we have an entire team to assist you including RN quality coordinators, RN case managers, and social workers. Together with you, your family, and your physician, we will make an assessment and arrange for any of the following services that you may require.

• Psychological
• Mental health
• Home healthcare and equipment
• Financial counseling
• Caregiver
• Nutrition
• Transportation

A hospitalist is a doctor who has chosen to practice in a growing medical specialty that focuses on the care of the hospitalized patient. As a key member of your healthcare team and an experienced medical professional, the hospitalist doctor takes primary responsibility for your care while you are in the hospital. A hospitalist is available to you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and, in the event of an emergency, is never more than a few minutes away from your bedside.

Once your physician approves your discharge, you will be asked to complete your discharge forms. For your approximate time of discharge, please ask your nurse.

The Retail Pharmacy is located with the Gift Shop in the atrium of the new ambulatory care building. Pharmacy hours are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. The pharmacy accepts most major insurance plans.

After you have been discharged, you may obtain a copy of your medical record. To do so, you must sign a release form that is available in the Medical Records Department located on the ground floor of St. Joseph Hospital. There may be a minimal copying fee for this service. Hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
