We want your stay at St. Joseph Hospital to be a positive experience. Here is important information regarding comforts, convenience, and safety for you and your visitors.

Smoking policy

We are pleased to offer a non-smoking environment for the health and safety of all who visit and work on the St. Joseph Hospital campus.

Television

The color television in your room is provided without charge. Popular stations include:

  • Channel 2: CBS
  • Channel 3: St. Joseph Hospital Closed Circuit (which includes educational, religious, and relaxation programming)
  • Channel 4: NBC
  • Channel 7: ABC
  • Channel 9: WMUR, local NH
  • Channel 77: St. Joseph Hospital Chapel
Telephone policy

The telephone in your room is provided without charge. Please ask your nurse for the direct phone number for your telephone.

For local calls:
Dial "9" and then the 7-digit number.

For long distance calls:
Dial "9" and then "0" for the operator to assist you. These calls may be billed to your home phone or telephone calling card, or placed collect.

Amplified and TTY teletype phones are available if needed.

Cellular phones may interfere with clinical testing in patient areas. Therefore, the use of cellular telephones is only permitted in designated areas: the Cafeteria, Carl Amelio Room, and Atrium.

Contacting a patient

To inquire about a patient's room/telephone number call the hospital's information desk at 603-882-3000, ext. 63750.

Meals

Breakfast: 7:30 a.m. – 8:30 a.m.
Lunch: 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Dinner: 4:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.
Snacks: Available 24 hours a day

Special dietary needs can be accommodated. Please notify your caregiver.

The Cafeteria is located on the ground floor of the South Building, and is open seven days a week from 6:30 a.m. until 6:45 p.m.

The St. Joe's Cafe is located in the atrium of the new ambulatory care building and is open Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. - 5 p.m.

There are vending machines that provide snacks and soft drinks 24 hours a day, located on the first floor by the Emergency Department.

Celebrate your new arrival. Moms and Dads are invited to share a three-course meal, complete with china and stemware, to celebrate the birth of their newborn at the Childbirth Center. Ask your nurse for more information.

Flower and mail delivery

Flowers, plants, and gifts are delivered to your room as soon as they arrive. Mail is delivered once a day. Mail arriving after you have been discharged will be forwarded to your home.

Flowers are not permitted in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

You may send mail by giving it to your nurse. Stamps are available for purchase - ask your nurse for information.

Gift shop

You'll find a wide assortment of reading materials, cards, fresh flower arrangements, and personal care and gift items at our Gift Shop, located in the atrium of the new ambulatory care building.

Hours of operation:
Monday – Friday: 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Valuables

Your security is an important priority. It is best to leave valuables such as jewelry, credit cards, excess money, or sentimental items at home.

Visiting hours

Visiting hours begin at 11 a.m. and end at 8 p.m.

Visiting hours in the ICU and PACU are at the discretion of your nurse.

To enter the building after 8 p.m., visitors must use the Emergency Department entrance. All other entrances will be locked.

Other services

Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) is located in the first-floor atrium of the new ambulatory care building, adjacent to the Gift Shop and Retail Pharmacy.

Hair Care Services are available by a licensed hair stylist. Please ask your nurse for information.

Internet/E-Mail Access is available through a computer in the Community Rooms located on 4 North, 3 South, and the Breast Care Center. Internet medical searches are available through the Health Science Library (Ext. 64300).

Interpreter Services are available if English is not your primary language. Please notify us if you need an interpreter.

Newspapers are available for purchase in the cafeteria on the ground floor. FREE copies of the Nashua Telegraph are available daily.

Notary Public services are available during business hours. Please ask your nurse for contact information.

Security personnel are available 24 hours a day. Please tell your nurse if you have a security concern.

Wireless Internet is available for patients and visitors in certain areas for a nominal daily fee. You will need a Wi-Fi enabled computer or smart phone and credit card. The wireless internet is available in our atrium, infusion suite, Emergency Department, cafeteria, Childbirth Center, Intensive Care Unit (3 North), Orthopedics (4 North), Rehabilitation Center (4 South), and new Medical/Surgical & Oncology Suite (3 South). 

In case of an emergency or fire, your nurse will escort you to safety.
