What is a hand therapist?

A hand therapist is an occupational or physical therapist who, through advanced study, specializes in treating patients with conditions affecting the hand up to the shoulder. The hand therapist assesses the injured limb and designs a specific treatment program. A variety of treatment techniques are used to help patients recover and return to activities at home and work.
