St. Joseph Hospital is a Catholic Health Care facility sponsored by Covenant Health Systems. Originally operated by the Sisters of Charity of Montreal, known as the Grey Nuns, its Mission is to continue the healing ministry of Jesus through the power of His Spirit. It proudly purses it Mission by:

RN: The registered nurses (RN) of St. Joseph Hospital believe that it is a privilege to provide you with nursing care that is competent and compassionate. We make every effort to respect your rights as a patient with attention to your need for dignity and relief of pain. We commit to involving you in the planning of your care, in a way that is logical, planned, and individualized, with the involvement of your family and support persons.
LNA: In New Hampshire, nursing assistants are licensed, rather than certified, so we use the credential LNA. Nursing assistants at St. Joseph Hospital are key members of your care team. They are the individuals with whom you are most likely to spend the most time. We are available for any request that you may have ~ including physical care, comfort, or nutritional needs. Please let us know your needs.

(Ext. 63850 or 63867)Our RN Quality Coordinators, RN Case Managers, and Social Workers are here to help you, your family and your physician to insure your healthcare and psycho-social needs are met both while hospitalized and once discharged. Together with you, we will arrange for any post-hospital services that you may require. Please ask your caregiver to notify us if we can be of service.

SPIRITUAL CARE SERVICES
(Ext. 67800)Spiritual Care Services provides comfort and assistance to persons of all faiths. The Chapel is located on the first floor, across from the South elevators and is open to all visitors. The chapel is accessible through the television on Channel 77. Services are broadcast live each day at 11:30 a.m. Holy communion is available on a daily basis for Catholic patients. If you wish communion, please notify a chaplain or ask your caregiver to contact Spiritual Care Services.

(Ext. 63856)An advance care plan which includes a durable power of attorney for healthcare and a Living Will gives you and your loved ones the peace of mind of knowing your wishes for end-of-life-care. If you want to learn more about this process please contact the Coordinator of Mission Services.
Any individual who is concerned about an existing or potentially complicated ethical issue, may request a consultation. Please contact the Vice President of Mission and Ethics at Ext. 63301.

For local calls:

For long distance calls:
Dial "9" and then "0" for the operator to assist you.
These calls may be billed to your home phone,
telephone calling card, or placed collect.
Amplified and TTY teletype phones are available if needed.

The color television in your room is provided without charge. The most common stations include:

MEALS
Meals are served according to the following schedule:
The Cafeteria is located on the ground floor of the South Building. It is open seven days a week from 6:30 a.m. until 6:45 p.m.
The St. Joseph's Cafe is located in atrium of the new ambulatory care buiding and is open Monday through Friday, 7am - 5pm.
There are vending machines that provide snacks and soft drinks 24 hours a day located on the first floor by the Emergency Department.
Special dietary needs can be accommodated. Please notify your caregiver.
back to topFLOWER AND MAIL DELIVERY
Flowers, plants, and gifts are delivered to your room as soon as they arrive. Mail is delivered once a day. Mail arriving after you have been discharged will be forwarded to your home.
Flowers are not permitted in the Intensive Care Unit. (ICU)
You may send mail by giving it to your caregiver. Stamps are available for purchase on the ground floor of the hospital by the Mail Room.

Visiting hours begin at 11:00 a.m. and end at 8 p.m.
To enter the building after 8 p.m., visitors must use the Emergency Department entrance. All other entrances will be locked.
Visiting hours in the ICU and PACU are at the discretion of your caregiver.

The Gift Shop is located in the atrium of the new ambulatory care building and is open:
The Gift Shop offers a wide assortment of reading materials, cards, personal care, and gift items. A selection of fresh flower arrangements is also available.

(Ext. 67920)The Retail Pharmacy is located in the atrium of the new ambulatory care building and is currently open Monday through Friday, 9:00AM - 6:30PM & Saturday through Sunday, 9:00AM - 1:00PM. The Pharmacy is co-located with the Gift Shop. We accept most Insurance plans.

Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) - is located in the first floor atrium of the new ambulatory care building, adjacent to the Gift Shop and Retail Pharmacy.
Hair Care Services are available by a licensed hair stylist. Please contact a staff member.
Internet/E-Mail Access is available through the computer in the Community Room located on 4 North. Internet medical searches are available through the Health Science Library (Ext. 64300).
Interpreter Services if English is not your primary language, interpreter services are available. Please notify a staff member.
Newspapers copies of the Nashua Telegraph are available at each nursing station. Other newspapers are available for purchase on the ground floor by the cafeteria.
Notary Public service is available during business hours. Please contact a staff member.
Stamp Machine is located on the ground floor next to the Mail Room.
Security our qualified staff is available 24-hours a day. Please ask your caregiver.
In case of an emergency or fire, your caregiver will escort you to safety.

Once your physician approves your discharge, it may take some time to process the appropriate paperwork and ensure that all your needs have been met. For the approximate time of discharge, please ask your caregiver. back to topMEDICAL RECORDS
(Ext. 63800)After you have been discharged, you may obtain a copy of your medical record. To do so, you must sign a release form that is available in the Medical Records Department. There will be a minimal copying fee for this service.

The use of cellular telephones is only permitted in designated areas: the Cafeteria, Carl Amelio Room and Atrium because the signal may interfere with clinical testing in patient care areas.
