More than 22.4 million people in the United States are informal caregivers, providing around-the-clock
care for loved ones who require assistance with all daily living activities. With so much energy focused on the loved one, a caregiver can be left feeling overwhelmed, stressed and isolated. At The Roger Dionne, MD, Senior Center, we understand the importance of helping loved ones remain independent for as long as possible.
The caregiver plays a key role in upholding family values and honoring the wishes of many older adults who want to live at home and stay close to their families. The Caregiver Clinic provides guidance and support to families and caregivers, so that they have as much information as possible to meet the needs and wishes of their loved ones.
Our Program:
Our Caregiver Clinic is led by a licensed social worker who is trained to help caregivers in their work with loved ones.We meet with caregivers one-on-one and conduct a care-planning assessment to:
- Identify problems.
- Determine elegibility for assistance and services.
- Assist with the arrangement of services.
- Provide crisis intervention.
- Make referrals to medical professionals for additional services.
