Who can volunteer?

Men and women from all walks of life and of all ages volunteer at St. Joseph Hospital. They are students, homemakers, retirees, and workers with full- and part-time jobs. Our volunteer program runs seven days a week, days and evenings. You can select the time and day that works best for you. All you need is the desire to give your time and energy to be a St. Joseph volunteer.

Where can you volunteer?

There are many ways to volunteer at St. Joseph Hospital. Volunteers can be found in most departments, in our Affiliate offices, and on every floor. We do our best to match your unique interests, skills, and talents so that you will have a fun, rewarding volunteer experience.

The adult volunteer application process will include:

  • Completed application*
  • Two reference forms*
  • *The completed application forms and two references need to be turned into Volunteer Services. Once these are received, we will be in touch with you to schedule an interview and coordinate the following items:
  • Attend volunteer orientation
  • Bureau of Adult and Elderly Services State Registry Check
  • TB test (done at St. Joseph Hospital's Employee Health & Wellness)
  • Criminal background check (St. Joseph Hospital pays for the processing fee)
  • Vaccination history record
  • Flu shot (can be obtained from St. Joseph Hospital's Employee Health & Wellness or health documentation required.) *This must be done yearly-you may not volunteer without a yearly flu shot.

Junior volunteers

Currently accepting applicatons for the Junior Volunteer Program until Tuesday, March 31, 2020.

If your Junior is interested in volunteering, please call (603) 595-3044 and ask for information to be sent to you. The Junior Volunteer program is now a year-long program. We ask for a once a week, 3-hour shift commitment. *If 16 and under, you must obtain a work permit to volunteer. We have the required form once you are accepted to the program.

  • Must be 15 years or older
  • If 16 and under, you must obtain a work permit to volunteer. Form will be distributed once accepted to the volunteer program.
  • 1-3 hour shift per week
  • Year round volunteer program
  • Annual flu shot
  • 2 Part TB
  • Vaccination History Required
  • Completed application and one page essay
