During Your Stay

Our spacious newly renovated labor rooms accommodate both you and your family while awaiting the birth of your child. One-on-one nursing care will guide you through your labor and birth. Our nurses and all our staff respect the choices you make as a mother from your birth plan to how you feed your baby, we are trained and ready to support you.

After delivery we keep you and your baby together for the remainder of your hospital stay. Our expert all-registered nurse staff coordinates the care for you and your baby to minimize interruptions and maximize learning about your newborn's unique needs and personality.

As one of a very few hospitals in the country, and the only one in greater Nashua to hold the Baby-Friendly designation we have a fully trained staff available to you 24-hours a day to support you in successfully breastfeeding if you choose. Our certified lactation consultant is also available to you for private consultations before you deliver, while you are in the hospital and for ongoing support after discharge.

Our dietary staff offers room service, so you can order your meals deliver to you on your schedule. Before you go home, we also offer a delicious celebration dinner for you and your significant other.

One-On-One Support

Prenatal Support for Patients: We are here for you – to answer questions and provide support throughout your pregnancy. Our Maternal Child Health nurses will take the time to reach out to all St. Joseph Hospital OB/GYN and Midwifery patients at 28- and 36-weeks’ gestation to check-in, offer support and answer any questions you may have.

Lactation Program and Support: You may arrange for a one-on-one outpatient prenatal or postpartum lactation appointment, please contact our lactation consultant, Teri D’Onofrio, BSN, IBCLC at (603) 882.3000 ext. 66047.

In-Room Support: Our committed nursing team and certified lactation consultant are happy to spend time with you and your newborn in your room to assist with instruction and technique, which will ensure you’re both comfortable while feeding.

Postpartum Support: When it’s time to depart our Maternal Child Health center, our compassionate nursing staff is available by phone 24/7 to answer any questions you have about yourself or your baby. If you need additional support, our lactation consultant will be there for you as long as you need them.
